The GTQF Installs a Clean Water Well that Transforms Thunga Village.

In the heart of Thunga Village in Thyolo, a simple yet profound change has transformed the lives of the community. Thanks to the generous support of St. George’s Anglican Church in Berlin, the Grown Too Quick Foundation has successfully installed a clean water well, providing a lifeline of health, dignity, and opportunity.

During a recent visit to Thunga, GTQF team member Mada D. Nkhoma witnessed firsthand the pure joy and relief of the villagers as they accessed clean, safe water in their community.

“The joy and excitement were unimaginable,” Mada shared. “Water is often taken for granted, but for these families, it is a precious gift that will change their daily lives forever.”

When the villagers learned that Mada had played a role in the fundraising and that a needs assessment had prioritised Thunga Village, their gratitude overflowed. They couldn’t hold back their excitement—they danced in celebration.

Before this well, Thunga’s residents endured long, exhausting walks to fetch water from open wells and contaminated sources. This struggle came at a cost—children were often late for school, families battled waterborne diseases like cholera, and women spent hours on a basic necessity instead of pursuing economic activities.

Now, the story has changed.

💧 No more waterborne diseases threatening lives.
💧 No more long walks fetching unsafe water.
💧 No more missing school due to water scarcity.

For Tisunge, a young girl in the village, this well means more than just water—it means a chance fort a brighter future.
“Thank you! No more being late for school, no more long distances in search of unclean water!” she said with a smile.

As author Steve Maraboli beautifully puts it, “A kind gesture can reach a wound that only compassion can heal.”
