Who Are We?

The Grown Too Quick Foundation is a not-for-profit Non-Governmental Organization, founded by a young Malawian; Francis Nkhoma who assumed parental responsibilities at the tender age of 13—he had to grow too quickly. It was registered locally in 2015 under the Malawi Incorporation Act for the sustainable restoration of hope to underprivileged children and young people within Malawi.

Our Vision is to witness a healthy, hopeful & prosperous Malawian generation now and beyond.

Our Mission: To restore hope to underprivileged children and young people by being a vehicle of help through Health (Nutrition, Clean Water, and Special Health Care), Quality Education, and Regeneration by advocating Social Justice and Conducive Environments. Hence, ensuring that every child has the right to be a child and enjoy the benefits that come with it—no child should grow too quickly; no matter who, no matter where, no matter what.

What We Do: We realise the Malawi 2063 agenda by promoting, developing, and implementing Health and Well-being programs, advocating for Conducive Living Environments as an important social determinant of health, Quality Education, Regeneration, and Social and Environmental Justice Programs essential for creating noble and upright global citizens.

GTQF Awards 3 Fully Funded Scholarships To Secondary School Students

On #InternationalLiteracyDay, we at the Grown Too Quick Foundation are excited to award fully funded scholarships to 3 secondary school students; 1 male and 2 females. We understand that #Literacy and #sustainability are inextricably linked. Supporting and promoting educational causes encourages more informed and engaged citizens committed to socioeconomic development.

Scientific evidence shows that education directly reduces vulnerability as it improves problem-solving skills and risk perception. Besides, it indirectly increases the chances of employment and economic and social capital, especially critical for girls. Unfortunately, the costs associated with attending school are a significant barrier for Malawi youths accounting for up to 69.7% of reasons for dropping out. This is particularly a big problem in the rural areas where over 80% of Malawians live. Such inequities exacerbate unequal access to critical human rights like education, thereby affecting the attainment of sustainable development. Girls are especially more vulnerable than boys as they present with additional associated risks like unfavourable cultural practices (spending more time doing household chores while sacrificing study time in the process), early pregnancies, et cetera.

The GTQF believes that by empowering vulnerable young people through education, a socially better world is certain.

GTQF Goes Gold! September is a Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

We All Need A Hand, Be That Hand.
In This Aging World, Children And Young People Are Assets. Can we afford to let the potential of our children and youths go unrealised due to their socio-economic statuses or other life challenges beyond their control? It is our hope that you be part of the solution that ensures that these young warriors have the support and opportunities they need to excel.

September is a Child Cancer Awareness Month. As such, we at GTQF being pro-children and young people, visited the Pediatric Oncology Ward at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Malawi. Witnessing the courage and resilience of children battling cancer was both heartbreaking and inspiring. Tears filled us all when one of the children battling cancer said, "Ndikufuna ndizakhale m'Silikali oteteza dziko" Literally "I would like to be a soldier who protects the country." We all know that without adequate support, this child may never realise this dream.

To show that someone out there cares, we spent quality time encouraging and listening to their inspiring stories in addition to donating assorted items like washing soap, child-play items, and we feasted together on food and drinks. What a Day!

Thank you World Child Cancer for your commendable work globally and particularly in underresourced countries like Malawi.
