Meet Derrick, a first-year student at Kamuzu University of Health Sciences (formerly, the College of Medicine) where he is pursuing a rigorous Pharmacy-related degree. With the rise of antimicrobial resistance and emerging global health threats like COVID-19 and Monkeypox, his future contributions to the medical and pharmaceutical field are more important than ever.
But Derrick’s path wasn’t easy.
Growing up in challenging circumstances, higher education seemed like a distant dream. Yet, through resilience, hard work, and the support of the Grown Too Quick Foundation (GTQF), that dream is now a reality. From his days at Kankhomba Primary School in Thyolo district, where he first received support, to excelling in secondary school against all odds, Derrick has proven that opportunity fuels transformation and social mobility.
His success is more than just a personal achievement—it is a testament to the power of investing in young people. With the right support, bright minds like Derrick’s can shape a better future for their communities and beyond.
Derrick’s journey is just one of many. Will you be part of the change?
Join us in empowering more young people to unlock their potential.
