19 August 2025 — Act for Humanity

Every year on August 19, the world marks World Humanitarian Day, honouring those who risk their lives to help others in times of crisis. This year’s theme—“Strengthening global solidarity and empowering local communities” echoes our belief at GTQF: real humanitarian work begins when communities themselves are empowered to respond and rebuild.

GTQF in Action: Stories of Impact
2019 — Cyclone Idai & Chikhwawa Flood Relief
When floods devastated southern Malawi, displacing over 50,000 people in Chikhwawa alone, GTQF mobilised quickly to deliver food, blankets, and essentials. Working hand-in-hand with local leaders, we reached nearly 70 households, ensuring the most vulnerable, especially children and youth, received urgent support.

2023 — Cyclone Freddy Response
As Cyclone Freddy tore through Malawi, GTQF fundraised and provided emergency aid: food parcels, hygiene kits, blankets, and psychosocial support, with a focus on children who had lost parents and homes. Together, we walked with communities through grief toward renewed hope.

Back-to-School for Child Mothers (Since 2013)
Through our “A Student, Not a Mother” campaign, GTQF helped child mothers return to school, providing them with uniforms, mentorship, and learning support. Although resource limitations paused the program in 2016, it remains a testament to our commitment to education as the foundation of resilience.

Our Humanitarian Pledge
At GTQF, we act for humanity by standing with local communities, responding with empathy, and empowering children to thrive. Whether through emergency relief, emotional support, advocacy or access to education, our mission is clear: children should inherit possibilities, not poverty and debt.

On this World Humanitarian Day, we reaffirm our pledge to serve courageously and compassionately—and we thank our volunteers, partner communities, and donors for walking this journey with us.
